Hold the Music

Let's Play Music piano music rackA few years back our next door neighbors (And best friends in the whole wide world) came to us with a problem. I don't recall the details exactly, we weren't exactly pointing fingers, but while she was teaching Piano the music rack was broken. I'm no piano player, but I do use a computer, and I recon that having the music held upright is one of those things you jut don't go without.

While we sat talking with them one evening, well after the kids were asleep, we started talking about this broken part. I suggested we might replace it. It didn't take us long to decide that it should have the letters "LPM" for Let's Play Music (Which is the name of her music classes.)

We'd already done a project for their daughter's birthday, and we loved the joined letters. It seemed a perfect fit. She suggested the font, and we modified the letters to take up the space. It wasn't an easy task but it paid off!

Holding material down without a vacuum table.

Using a CNC has got to be the easiest form of woodworking. I once heard another CNC user say "I can't find a hammer that fits my hand." At the time I didn't get the joke but there's allot of truth there. I got a splinter the other day for the first time in what seems like years. I barely handle the materials i work with, and when i go to the local Woodworkers Club meetings, I make it a point to let the real woodworkers know that i have none of their skills. I know I have a hammer, I used it the other day to  break apart some trash before it went in the dumpster.

Unlike other forms of woodworking, there is very little "holding" the
